Psychological Counseling for International Students

About us: The Psychological Counseling Center provides free counseling for students in times of stress, and encourages them to ask for help with their most immediate concerns. Our staff is experienced in dealing with deeper developmental and psychological issues ranging from stress and depression to problems of adaptation and eating disorders. All concerns are addressed with sensitivity, respect and understanding. We also provide services to those who wish to prevent their concerns from developing into more serious problems.ConfidentialityOur essential goal is to provide an environment where students are free to ask for help. Therefore we maintain the strictest standards of privacy and confidentiality.

Fee: Services are free of charge to all HIGER SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS students.

Any personal issues are appropriate for counseling if they are negatively impacting your functioning. 

What are the special needs of international students?
Adapting to a new culture is an ongoing process. It is not unusual for international students to experience many different changes as they get adjusted to a new environment. For instance, getting acclimatized to a new weather conditions, getting used to a new culture, loneliness due to being homesick, perceived loss of support or relationships, academic adjustment and more. Our staff works to provide culturally-sensitive support to our international students and help them get through the difficalties.

Why Might I Experience Culture Shock in Russia?
Culture shock is a “sudden exposure to unfamiliar culture”. It may happen to you because of many reasons. Russian culture has a large number of features and differences from other cultures.
