LSBC research seminar on ‘ Researching social capital: implications for interdisciplinary approach ’

Event ended

On April 17, 2014, the HSE Laboratory for Studies in Business Communications is organizing a research seminar. Ilona Baumane-Vītoliņa will speak on ‘Researching social capital: implications for interdisciplinary approach’.

About the speaker: Dr. sc. adm. Ilona Baumane-Vītoliņa works as an assistant profesor at the University of Latvia, Department of International Economic and business, teaching history of economics and business, intercultural business relations and organizational theory. Her research interests are cross-cultural management, social capital and organisational culture and behaviour. She also  has worked at a chief executive search company Amrop as a consultant.

Abstract: Social capital gained a wide recognition decades ago among scholars of various disciplines. However, it still lacks precise and universally admitted definition as well as agreement on its impact on economy and well being. Most difficulties in researching social capital are connected to blurred levels of analysis and inability to make clear cut distinctions. This workshop will be devoted to discussion on social capital as a research topic, possibilities of operationalizations, as well as merging the concept within disciplines.

Working language: English.

Everyone interested is welcome to attend!

Start time: 1.40 pm

Address: Room 205. Building 5. 2/8 Khitrovsky Pereulok.
