HSE Graduates Will Be Able to Confirm Their Qualifications More Easily with ACCA

The Higher School of Economics and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) have signed an agreement of mutual understanding. The agreement will allow in the future for some of the subjects taught at HSE to be recognised in ACCA’s accreditation process and opens up possibilities for students and graduates of financial programmes.

The ACCA is one of the largest and fastest growing international accountancy organisations, founded more than a hundred years ago with a membership of 500,000. To become a member you have to pass 14 exams, have professional experience and undergo an ethics test. Membership is recognised in 170 countries and is a serious competitive advantage for financial specialists.

‘ACCA goes into universities regularly and I think it is important because students need to feel the influence of the environment, the influence of employers in their education,’ says Director of HSE St Petersburg Sergey Kadochnikov. ‘We are keen to have our education programmes accredited by the ACCA and are grateful to our colleagues for helping us in this way. ACCA is a global brand in professional qualifications and I think our cooperation will be far-reaching.’

Afra Sajjad, Head of Education in Emerging Markets at ACCA is sure that the agreement will extend opportunities for talented Russians to get the qualifications which are in high demand around the world and to build successful careers, and in the long term it will help to sustain and develop the accounting and financial specialist professions.

HSE and ACCA made further agreements to hold master classes, seminars and other events and to participate in developing joint practicable initiatives.
