Baltic Practice: What Is It?
Baltic Practice is a project started in 2001 by the Russian-European Students Research Centre. It is aimed at young researchers: under-graduate and post-graduate students, PhD students and young professors both from Higher School of Economics and other universitites. Baltic Practice is coordinated by a students organizing committee and the Chair of Public Policy of Higher School of Economics. Nina Belyaeva, Professor and Head of the Chair of Public Policy, is the academic supervisor of the project.
Baltic Practice is a ground for research work. One of its main characteristics is that it's multidisciplinary. Young researchers from different universities work together at specific research goals during various seminars, workshops, sessions of work groups, trainings, lectures and other events.
Baltic Practice's main events are the two winter and summer seminars. Traditionally, the former takes place in December in Russia. Its main goal is to solve the organizational issues connected with the preparations for the next - summer - session. The latter usually takes place abroad and is organized as intense, week-long research work on certain topics.
Research results are published annualy in a special digest of research papers. Many works are commissioned by specific customers: regional parliaments, organizations or governmental structures.
As all the work is done together with foreign experts and researchers, the work groups' final papers are prepared and presented in English, Baltic Practice's official working language.
On our web-site, you can find all the necessary information about the project: its history, research results, information about participation in the project, and feedback from those who have already actualized their research capacities as part of Baltic Practice.
