The Institute of Macroeconomic Research and Forecasting (IMRF) was created as part of the Higher School of Economics in 1996. The core of the institute was largely formed by former staff from the Center of Economic Situation under the auspices of the RF Government.

The key aim of the Institute is to carry out analytical studies of the situation within the Russian economy and its structural sectors as well as to forecast the country’s development.

The tasks of the Institute include applied and fundamental scientific research, expertise and consulting on Russian macroeconomics.
