The Center of Synergetic Anthropology was created in 2006. This is a joint project between the Higher School of Economics and the Institute of Synergetic Anthropology.

What is Synergetic Anthropology?

The meaning of the word synergetic can be traced back to the theological idea of synergy, which in medieval Byzantium meant harmony of activity and the union between Divine and human energies.

Today the concept of synergy is used in various contexts: from cybernetic to esoteric.

Synergetic anthropology is a new trans-disciplinary scientific area. It is new because, firstly, synergetic anthropology is based on a non-classical concept of a human as an energy phenomenon. Secondly, the object of its interest is different from that of the traditional object of anthropologic sciences: synergetic anthropology is focused on extreme aspects of a human and the dynamics of their change. On this basis the science builds a concept of human evolution and analyzes modern trends of this development.

And thirdly, this is a new area since it creates new tools, concepts and ideas for the investigation of the phenomenon of a human being and builds an alternative, when compared to the European positivist science, methodology of human research. Synergetic anthropology bases its methodology on understanding the ancient practice of Hesychasm and in Eastern Christian discourse.
