Functions and Responsibilities

  • development of new markets and the promotion of educational training programs of HSE in the CIS countries, Central and Eastern Europe;
  • forming the HSE partnerships with the leading educational institutions of higher education and professional educational institutions in  the CIS and CEE countries;
  • forming the sustainable institutional partnerships of  HSE with Russian and international institutions engaged in educational, scientific, analytical, design and cultural activities in the CIS and CEE;
  • interaction with the national government and the regional education authorities of the CIS and CEE countries, governmental and non-governmental organizations, representatives of academia, business and artistic communities in the CIS and CEE, as well as organizations of compatriots living abroad;
  • leadership of   foreign students selection for their  studying at the Higher School of Economics on a quota basis established by the Government of the Russian Federation for the education of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation;
  • coordination of projects within the framework of the federal target program "Russian Language", aimed at the  HSE  target audience;
  • interaction with the Russian national and international sponsors, including the business community, supported projects of HSE in the CIS and CEE;
  • assisting in the organization of competitive projects of HSE for talented young people in the CIS and CEE;
  • coordination of the  HSE resource centers activities in the CIS and CEE countries;
  • assistance  coordination  of adaptation of students from the CIS and CEE countries studying at the HSE, including through the development of volunteering in the Association of Students and Alumni of the HSE CIS and Baltic countries, the student chambers of the National Higher School of Economics and other forms of university activities;
  • assistance in  temporary employment  of undergraduate and master’s students from the CIS and Central and Eastern Europe  , including the project activity and  the work in the Office for Cooperation with the CIS and Baltic countries;

‘My Research Interests Took Shape When I Was a Master’s Student’

Zaruhi Hakobyan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Yerevan, her Master’s from HSE University, and her PhD from both HSE University and the University of Luxembourg. She spoke to the HSE News Service about the differences in academic approaches at various universities.

HSE Signs Cooperation Agreement with Hitotsubashi University 

On June 19 the Higher School of Economics signed a cooperation agreement with Hitotsubashi University in Japan. The agreement covers mutual visits for lecturers and researchers, student exchange programmes, as well as joint research projects, academic events, and publications.

How International Students Can Apply to HSE

HSE has recently published information on discounts for international students applying in 2017. Tatiana Chetvernina, HSE’s Director of International Admissions, talked to our News Service about this and various other innovations concerning international students at the University.

International Students Can Apply for Fee-paying Slots at HSE until August

April 1st, 2017 was the deadline for international students claiming state-financed slots on master’s programmes funded by scholarships from the Russian Government. The application period for undergraduate programmes lasts until May 2, and for fee-paying slots in undergraduate and master’s programmes – until mid-August. Some of the prospective students will have the opportunity to get a tuition fee discount.

International Students Can Now Apply to HSE through a Simplified Procedure

HSE’s Admission Rules for the 2017/2018 academic year have undergone some changes in regards to international admission. The admission track is now unified for students from both CIS and non-CIS countries. Thus, only two exams must be passed in order to be accepted into a given undergraduate programme, while competitions for Master’s programmes only require a portfolio and an interview. The rules for International Olympiad Competitions have also been changed. Registration for these competitions ends on November 15.

Over 800 International Students Recommended for Full-tuition Scholarships at HSE

On July 5, the application window closed for international students who made it through the selection process for state-funded spots at the Higher School of Economics. Those students who were not selected are still able to apply to the university for tuition-paying spots, or can enrol in the university’s Preparatory Year programme.

Leading Universities Will Recruit Foreign Students Together

On December 24th 2014, a meeting of the Council of the Association of Global Universities took place at HSE. The Council decided to establish a centre which will focus on recruiting foreign students for universities who are participants of the project 5/100.

New Agreement with Rossotrudnichestvo to Strengthen HSE's Presence in Europe

On November 7, the Higher School of Economics and Rossotrudnichestvo signed a new agreement on cooperation. The document provides a framework for the future development of partnerships between Russia, the CIS, the Baltics, and Central and Eastern Europe in the educational and academic spheres.
