Meet: Centre for Development of  Sociological  Education

Centre for Development of  Sociological Education (CDSE) was created in the structure of the Faculty of Sociology of  National Research University – Higher School of Economics (HSE) as recently as February 2011.

The need for such a structure was evident long ago - after a consortium of several leading Russian universities, formed  by the Higher School of Economics, won the competition for the right to develop a new Federal  State Educational  Standard (FSES)  in sociology.

The task of the new Centre - to help a consortium of universities-developers with the new standard with the implementation of organizational and methodical support of Russian higher  education during the transition to the standards of the third generation in sociology.

The director of the Center Margarita Davydovna Bershadskaya and an analyst  Lia Akakievna Gadrani, since 2008, took the most active part in the activities of the Consortium of universities, developed the FSES of higher sociological education (bachelor, master's training), and from 2010 - the development of approximate educational programs.

Coordinating the work of the Consortium, comprising representatives of universities and employers, including professional associations and unions is one of the main functions of the CDSE  aimed at solving  the major tasks outlined in the Regulations on CDSE. Council meeting will be scheduled as needed, at least 2-3 times a year.

Due to the complexity of collegiate development of  approximate basic educational programs for bachelors and masters there was accepted the decision of stage-by-stage publishing ofmethodical materials.

At the first stage approximate curricula for bachelors and masters are developed, agreed and approved. Their main feature - the variability of the proposed solutions.

Currently being finalized the approximate working programs of basic disciplines of professional cycle, more precisely, models of working programs that define minimum requirements for thedevelopment of a discipline. Layoutsassume the subsequent development of the base measurement and control of materials in accordance with the requirements. Particular attention is paid to general methodological guidelinesfor the development of disciplines, including the organization of classroom teaching and independent work, on ways of forming a number of competencies in any discipline and evaluation of results.

At this stage, the analysis and generalization of the recommendations suggested in the programs of the various training areasis carried out. Parallel have
been developing the next set of layouts of approximate working programs of disciplines and practices:

the basic disciplines of the Master training;
basic humanities, social and economic cycle of bachelor training;
basic disciplines of science series of bachelor training;
educational and industrial practice.

All members of the working Council actively participate in the Consortium work, considering this activity as an important and volunteer job for the establishing of
new
guidelines and raising of methodological level of sociological education.
At the same time, we should note the special contribution of Bershadskaya M.D. (approximate curricula), Puzanova J.V. (layouts of working disciplines), Devyatko I.F. (expert evaluation of workings out), Toshchenko J.T (expertise of educational programs), Cherkashina T.Y. (a matrix of competencies).

An important prerequisite for solving the problems of formation and evaluation of competency is the researchof Kozhanov A.A. on level approach to assessing competencies of students-sociologists.
