Abstract

This course on data management for 2nd year students is the 2nd part of SQL course. The course focuses on relational database design. Topics discussed include theoretical aspect of data modeling, conceptual and logical design, and introduction to data warehouses. After completing the 2nd year Data Management course students will know how to create a a relational database from business requirements using special software, understand difference between operational and analytical databases, and learn to analyze data structure. Curriculum consists of three parts: data redundancy problem and normalization methods, entitiy-relationship approach to database design, brief overview of data warehouse architecture.
