The idea of International Political Economy (IPE) covers the intersection of politics and economics as goods, services, money, people, and values move across borders and/or nations. More detailed, International Political Economy is a big research field that explores the multifaceted interaction between domestic and international factors as well as different political and economic forces that shape/change global agenda. Quantitative analysis forms the background of the IPE major. In order to test hypotheses, compare theories and study main trends in political economy, students should be competent in some aspects of statistics and econometrics. The topics include IPE theoretical perspectives, international trade theories and regimes, introduction to the macroeconomic analysis, global monetary and financial systems, cross-border investment and production, international development, and various globalization issues. Some of important contemporary IPE issues will be substantively discussed during the class with mandatory/voluntary student presentation.

It is planned to discuss the topics proposed by the teacher on the essential basis of good knowledge of the material, respectful attitude to an opponent and accurately answer questions.
Research works
Written tasks
The volume of the essay or other similar written work is 2-3 pages. Page-by-page links to sources and literature are obligatory required; at the end, a general list of references should be placed. Free language and academic standards of working with data, narration and citation will be an advantage. Criteria for rating see in grade’s scale.
Analytical tasks
This assignment is also fulfilled without preparation in advance (at home), and involves a students’ performance. It is necessary to comprise a policy brief on the specified topics, preferably with visualization of outcomes. Oral part includes a speech up to 10-15 minutes. Criteria for rating see in grade’s scale.
Quizes
Quizes consist of 10-15 questions and are needed for operational control of students’ knowledge. To prepare for quizes, it is enough to repeat the material given in the lectures.
Final exam
Final Exam takes place in written format; students should complete a test broadly consisting of 50 questions, and some of them do not mean choosing one of the given options, but a detailed written response. The time allotted for the test is 2 hours, and the maximum result is 2 points.
Reports
This assignment is fulfilled without preparation in advance (at home), and involves a students’ performance. Oral part includes a speech up to 10-15 minutes, where consistency of information expounded, and the presence of the authors’ opinion is highly appreciated. Criteria for rating see in grade’s scale.
