Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course explores how modern diplomacy and negotiation can effectivelyaddress seemingly “intractable” international conflicts and overcome barriers to agreement incivil wars, interstate conflicts, and in trade and finance. Each section of the course looks at a small number of abstract theoretical arguments or discussions, and a handful of more concrete applications of those theoretical ideas to specific historical episodes.

Learning Objectives

• To give a student basic knowledge about the modern diplomacy and practice of negotiations.

• Explains why and how diplomatic relations differ from other political and social relations.
• Explains what is diplomacy and negotiations.
• Explains why negotiations matter in world politics.
• Explains what constitutes success and failure in diplomacy.
• Formulates and explains bargaining strategies.
• Explains modern concepts of international diplomatic negotiations

  Экзамен проводится в форме теста. Экзамен проводится на платформе soctarive.com. К экзамену необходимо подключиться за пять (5) минут до начала. Компьютер студента должен удовлетворять требованиям работы на указанной платформе. Для участия в экзамене студент обязан посмотреть ознакомительное видео https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AII3a9dTIy4&feature=youtu.be и зарегистрироваться, указав свое имя, фамилию и email, и явиться на экзамен согласно точному расписанию. Во время экзамена студентам запрещено пользоваться конспектами и подсказками. Кратковременным нарушением связи во время экзамена считается нарушение связи менее минуты. Долговременным нарушением связи во время экзамена считается нарушение минута и более. При долговременном нарушении связи студент не может продолжить участие в экзамене. Процедура пересдачи подразумевает использование усложненных заданий.
