Course Syllabus

Abstract

The program is aimed at the ICEF students learning German as the first foreign language at the beginner’s level (I-II study years). The purpose of the course “German language” at the 1st этап is to form and develop crosscultural common communicative competence required for the further successful освоения of the 2nd stages of the program (III-IV study years) aimed at forming and developing foreign professional-oriented communicative competence. Complex of formed and developed competences during the 1st round match the language level of B1+ of the CEPR European language scale

  • Student must be able to summarize and comment the content of business correspondence and synthesize various secondary texts
  • Students must know peculiarities of sociocultural patterns of verbal and non-verbal behavior in both foreign language and mother tongue, understand the degree of their compatibility / incompatibility.

  • Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
  • Can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  • Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
  • Can relate events from your past, including your weekend activities and interesting stories.
  • Can describe your past life, giving details about important milestones.
  • Can discuss your vacation plans and tell friends and colleagues about your vacation afterwards.
  • Can understand and make basic business proposals in your area of expertise.
  • Can describe an accident or injury, get medical help from a doctor and fill a prescription for medicine.
  • Can engage in basic communication at work, including attending meetings on familiar topics.
  • Can discuss clothing and what kind of clothes you like to wear.
  • Can talk about movies that you like and choose a movie to see with friends.
  • Can talk about the natural world and travels to see animals and natural areas in your country.

To participate in the exam, the student is obliged: to put his photo on the avatar, to appear at the exam according to the exact schedule and turn on the camera and microphone during his answer. During the exam, it is prohibited: to turn off the camera, to use notes and tips. A short-term communication failure during the exam is considered a communication failure for less than two minutes. Long-term communication disruption during the exam is considered two minutes or more. In case of a long-term communication disruption, the student cannot continue to participate in the exam.
