Course Syllabus

Abstract

This course focuses on major issues of national and international security in the modern world, and mechanism of decision-making in this sphere. In this course the students will learn about major approaches to methods of ensuring national and international security. This course will combine the study of theories of national and international security with the students’ practical work.

  • This course becomes particularly important today when the international community faces the tremendous shift in the balance of power and structure of the modern international system – from unipolarity to multipolarity - and, thus, in the ways and means of provision of national and international security.

  • Explains the contents of the main challenges in the field of national and international security;
  • Explains mechanisms of ensuring national and international security;
  • Explains main types of international relations;
  • Works with information: finds, evaluates and uses information from various sources required for the solution of scientific and professional tasks (including on the basis of the system approach);
  • Conducts research, including problem analysis, setting goals and objectives, the allocation of the object and subject of study, choice of method and research methods, and evaluation of its quality;
  • Describes problems and situations of professional activity, using the apparatus of the social, humanitarian and economic Sciences to solve professional tasks;
  • Prepares press reviews on given topics, finds, collects and primarily summarizes actual material, making valid conclusions;
  • Analyzes the sources of scientific information on the studied problems, formulates their own judgments about the processes taking place in the world economic and political arena;
  • Uses specific concepts, methods, techniques and tools in the field of history of international relations;
  • Explains most common theories of international relations;
  • Describes characteristic features of the integration processes of the early XXI century;
  • Describes and analyzes characteristic features of the integration processes in South Asia;
  • Describes and analyzes characteristic features of the economic development of South Asian states;
  • Describes and analyzes political and economic development of the post-Soviet countries.

    Экзамен проводится в письменной форме (компьютерный тест) с использованием асинхронного прокторинга на платформе Moodle. К экзамену необходимо подключиться за 15 минут до начала, чтобы авторизоваться и пройти проверку компьютера на платформе Экзамус. Компьютер студента должен удовлетворять требованиям, сформулированные здесь https://elearning.hse.ru/data/2020/05/07/1544135594/Технические%20требования%20к%20ПК%20студента.pdf. Для участия в экзамене студент обязан: включить камеру и микрофон. Во время экзамена студентам запрещено: консультироваться с любыми другими лицами непосредственно или с использованием любых технических средств, пользоваться любыми материалами, средствами, информационной сетью Интернет во время экзамена, отлучаться во время написания экзамена. Продолжительность экзамена – 1 час. Студенту запрещено покидать сайт Moodle, на котором он проходит тест (сворачивать, закрывать, заходить параллельно или каким бы то ни было образом в другие вкладки, папки, материалы и т.д., в т.ч. рабочий стол). Любые перемещения по рабочему столу вне сайта с тестом запрещены и рассматриваются как нарушение процедуры проведения экзамена. Кратковременным нарушением связи во время экзамена считается выход студента из системы в течение менее 1 минуты при условии, что все интернет-соединения были для студента в этот период недоступны. Долговременным нарушением связи во время экзамена считается выход студента из системы в течение более 1 минуты. При долговременном нарушении связи 2 и более раз студент не может продолжить участие в экзамене. Процедура пересдачи проводится в устной форме
