Course Syllabus

Abstract

The «Speech Practice» course for 3 rd year students aims to develop students' communicative competence in the area of English for Specific and Academic Purposes and is connected to students' specialisation. The students will develop their communicative competence in all skills and aspects beyond the C1 level. The skills developed in the course include extralinguistic ones such as establishing connections between ideas, interpreting numerical data, providing and applying feedback.

Assessment Elements

    The teacher assesses the students’ work in class: participation in dialogues and discussions, role-plays, other tasks fulfillment, active vocabulary and grammar acquisition tasks, quizzes etc. The teacher also assesses homework completion, and classroom participation. The grades for these types of activities are recorded in the register (decimal system: 0-10), and the mean is calculated at the end of the year

    The grade for tests is calculated as the mean of the 6 tests (one after covering each unit): О test = Ʃ О test i /n (n=6).

    Экзамен проводится в письменной форме с использованием синхронного прокторинга. Экзамен проводится на платформе LMS, прокторинг на платформе Экзамус (https://hse.student.examus.net). К экзамену необходимо подключиться за 15 минут. На платформе Экзамус доступно тестирование системы. Компьютер студента должен удовлетворять следующим требованиям: https://elearning.hse.ru/data/2020/05/07/1544135594/Технические%20требования%20к%20ПК%20студента.pdf Для участия в экзамене студент обязан: заранее зайти на платформу прокторинга, провести тест системы, включить камеру и микрофон, подтвердить личность. Во время экзамена студентам запрещено: общаться (в социальных сетях, с людьми в комнате), списывать, пользоваться учебниками, словарями или конспектами (в тетради или на распечатанных листах), вставать с места работы, пользоваться другими устройствами, выключать камеру, снижать чувствительность микрофона. Кратковременным нарушением связи во время экзамена считается прерывание связи до 5 минут. Долговременным нарушением связи во время экзамена считается прерывание связи 5 минут и более. При долговременном нарушении связи студент не может продолжить участие в экзамене. Процедура пересдачи аналогична процедуре сдачи, однако студенту предлагается другой вариант теста.
