Course Syllabus

Abstract

The program gives students an idea of the different views on culture, on current changes of cultural and creative industries in modern society. The course examines both theoretical basis for the development of creative industries and an extensive amount of case studies that allows students to trace the origin, evolution and prospects of creative industries at global, regional, national and local levels. Course topics include issues related to the process of cultural production, cultural policy, provides students with opportunities to explore and analyze the interaction of culture, business and politics.

  • explain and interrogate the concepts of culture, creativity and entrepreneurship and the relationships between them
  • place culture, creativity and enterprise within a range of cultural, social and economic contexts
  • interrogate the professional, organizational and institutional implications of the roles of creativity and entrepreneurship
  • explain, interrogate and apply business models, concepts and theories to arts, cultural industries and creative industries
  • develop a critically informed approach to understanding professional development issues in relationship to creative entrepreneurship in the cultural field

  • Creative and Cultural Industries: Basic Concepts and Approaches to the Sector Definition
    Lecture 1. The concept of cultural and creative industries are determined with different approaches to the concept of "creativity". Development of creative and cultural industries is estimated on the basis of consumer needs and interests of producers and state institutions. The role of creative industries in the development of regional and global economy is identified. Seminars 1-2. Identification and study of approaches to the definition of creative industries.
