Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course develops a framework for understanding the past and current trends in global economy with particular focus on developing countries. Main topics include major concepts of development, indicators to evaluate development process and main challenges developing countries currently face. A special attention is devoted to global health problems, poverty and inequality.
Learning Objectives
- learn to work with open data and statistical software to apply the concepts learned in the course and compare stages of development between and within countries.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- will be able to understand current state of things and global trends in development of the world economy
- identify the global threats; evaluate stages of development; acquire data and use statistical software
