Course Syllabus
Abstract
The course is aimed on developing students’ analytical thinking and decision-making skills related to the physical logistics’ management. Highlighted topics will represent ways of improving supply chain business-processes by using data cross-functionally and building decision-support models.
Learning Objectives
- The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with practical problems in managing the distribution network on various steps of the distribution chain
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Develop analytical thinking and skill in reporting outcomes of the business research effectively in oral form
- Plan and perform independent research projects in physical logistics applying the advanced concepts of supply chain management
- – Understand the challenges of uncertain economic environment in order to suggest innovative approach in supply chain management and offering non-standard solutions to the problems
- Give quantitative evaluation for challenges in supply chain management in a situation of uncertainty
Course Contents
- Lean instruments in logistics management. Cost Loss Tree for physical logistics
- Using GPS data to improve distribution. Optimization of the company’s yard management.
- Intersection of marketing/sales and logistics. Road-to-Market definition.
- Planning the limited shelf life products distribution.
- Communication with logistics providers. 3PL rates determination basing on a variety of factors
