Course Syllabus

Abstract

Basic course for all masters’ specializations in the field of "Management". It is taught in English. Having studied it, you will not only improve your English, but also learn everything about modern approaches to the formation of a strategy in business. The course will focus on 4 basic blocks of strategies: - financial strategies; - marketing strategies; - internal process strategies; - human resource management strategies. You will learn about the types of these strategies, master all the tools that modern manager needs to analyze their condition, learn about indicators that evaluate the effectiveness of certain strategies. All these things you will learn on practical cases and tasks! You will be able to develop the strategy for a certain company! As a result - you will become a real manager who is able to solve the core task - the definition of the company's development strategy!

  • The purpose of mastering the discipline "Strategies in Management" is to develop students' skills in self-development of the organization's strategy. At the completion of the course requirements, the student will be able to: • Know the basic concepts of strategic management; • Independently and correctly develop the strategy of the organization; • Have the skills of strategic analysis and strategy evaluation.

    Matrix of financial strategies of the company. The result of the financial activity of the company (economic and financial sense). Types of financial strategies of the company (according to the matrix of financial strategies). Description of the types of financial strategies associated with the consumption of liquid funds. Description of the types of financial strategies associated with the creation of liquid funds by the firm. Possible types of strategies for Russian firms. Economic indicators. Liquidity indicators of the enterprise. Investment indicators.

    The role of the company’s context of activity for the formation of the strategy. Examples of the use of knowledge about the context of the organization. 4A Marketing Strategy. The value of market analysis, examples from global, Russian and regional business practices. Market parameters for strategic analysis: turnover, capacity, structure, product and customer groups. Market analysis tool – 5 Forces. Industry Indicators. Product Indicators. Market indicators. Indicators of a business portfolio. Types of analysis. PEST analysis, GETS analysis, SWOT analysis, needs analysis, market analysis, competitor analysis. Principles of competition. Marketing strategies’ selection matrixes.

    Evaluation and understanding of the current strategy. Strategic control. Areas of strategic changes in the organization, final products of the strategic planning process, levels of strategic changes in the organization, compliance of the organization’s management structure with its strategy and industry structure, requirements to be met by the organization’s management structure, strategic management system, strategic planning and allocation of strategic resources of the organization.
