Course Syllabus

Abstract

The main goal of the MOOC (online) bridging course (https://www.coursera.org/learn/strategic-management) Strategic management is to give students an understanding of theoretical and practical approaches to the formation of a company's strategy in today's highly competitive environment. Students will learn both classic tools of strategic management and modern methods of analyzing the functioning and formation of the company's strategy. The work of students includes the study of theoretical materials, research in the framework of thematic sections, as well as the independent solution of cases.

  • This course prepares you to think strategically in an age when companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft have become more valuable (in market cap terms) than companies like Exxon. Today, business value and competitive advantage arise more often from consumer perceptions of what is "cool" than from physical assets or economies of scale. In this course you will gear up for the challenges of strategy formulation and implementation in a 21st century business.
