Мобильность как потенциальный фактор потребления услуг сотовой связи

Despite the fact that nowadays cellular market is one of the most congested markets, telecommunication providers are still interested in maintaining demand and extension of the product range. In order to make these processes work a company should study the preferences of its clients and their behavior. Cellular services consumption is influenced by a lot of factors. Besides tariff characteristics demography is of the much importance which has an effect on clients` behavior. Lifestyle and type of subscribers can be reflected by their movements inside and outside the city. This characteristic is called mobility. The main purpose in the current paper is to analyze subscribers` mobility, derive the most appropriate measure of it and then investigate the effect on the services consumption. The choice of the best measure is made according to the common sense, expectations about the nature of mobility and estimation of various model specifications. The results based on discrete/continuous choice model suggest the significant effect of mobility on choice of tariff and usage. Moreover, the difference in subscribers` behavior is revealed. The research has theoretical implementation as well as empirical one and can be useful for providers to predict clients` consumption and build more sophisticated tariff plans.
