Factors of Political Participation and Representation of the Second Generation Migrant Muslim Women from Northern Africa in Italy and France: Comparing the Role of Regulatory Regimes and Integration Capacities

The dissertation is devoted to the models and patterns of political incorporation of second-generation North African Muslim women in Europe on the example of Italy and France. It will analyze Muslim women's political participation, representation and attitudes in Western democracies. It will also look into the civil rights of Muslim minorities, their treatment in legal sphere and law enforcement, and discuss how different institutions and personal capacities shape the political life of Western Muslims. It will then examine the issues of participation and representation that Muslim minorities and women in particular encounter, and assess their overall political activity.
