Application of Oculus Rift VR DK2 to the Navigation and Sighting for 3D First Person Shooter in Unreal Engine 4
Прикладная математика и информатика
In this paper, we made a review of Virtual Reality technologies and described implementation of three-dimensional scene specifically designed for interacting in virtual world. We also developed new methods and algorithms improving sighting and navigation in three-dimensional VR first person shooter, such as inverse kinematics and adaptive camera rotation. Implementation of such created three-dimensional scene and corresponding human-computer interface was aimed for integration with Oculus Rift, but then we decided to switch to another HMD, HTC Vive, which appears to prevail on Oculus with respect to reduced simulator sickness and increased resolution and controllers’ quality. We demonstrated how to set up HTC Vive and integrate it with Unreal Engine 4. In Unreal Engine 4, we review methods that we used for setting up Virtual Environment. We also present an approach of adapted motion in virtual world with respect to real world bounded room constraints.
