Emigration Rates and Country Size Interdependence
This work is devoted to studying emigration rates and country size interdependence. Emigration is a very crucial part of international migration processes, which is growing in importance with developing of globalisation. The thesis uses panel data borrowed from UN-OECD 2010/11 and the World Bank data to construct database on emigration from different countries to ‘The West’ and runs regression analysis on this data. According to its results, the proportion of people leaving the country of birth for OECD destination country is highly negatively correlated with population size of domestic country. The study also found positive correlation of emigration rates with GDP of domestic country and unemployment.
