Benefits and Threats of FMCG Companies' Participation in the Multisided Platform Business Model
The multisided platforms (MSPs) are new business phenomena which have been changing the way of conducting business for many traditional industries. It goes without saying that they have pushed a transformation in the sphere of daily consumption since digital revolution has caused a shift in how people perceive the brands, choose trade channels and purchase products. So, this master thesis focuses on FMCG companies and investigates the benefits and threats of their participation on multisided platforms. Different cases of FMCG companies’ inclusion in digital platform economy (social platforms exemplified by the case of Facebook and e-commerce platforms exemplified by the case of Amazon) were analyzed to find out which role these platforms play in modern consumers’ digital way to purchase and to figure out how FMCG companies use their business models.
