John Searle's Chinese Room Thought Experiment and the Modern Discussions Around it
Starting from the fifties, we have an unanswered question. An answer to this question could become a methodological basis for the artificial intelligence (AI) research one part of which is aimed at reaching a level of human intelligence. The question is whether machines can think. At the moment, there are different approaches to answering this question which in general are based on the Chinese Room thought experiment. In this work, we present a new approach which is based on a detail which Searle completely overlooked when he wrote his article. We hope that this new approach will be further used to speed up the AI research aimed at reaching human-level of intelligence.
