Сравнение влияния «умной силы» США и Китая на Бразилию (2010-2020)

Interstate interactions have been redefined by complex interdependence, incurring new strategies of foreign policy. Domestic challenges have also transformed the path of foreign policy and should be examined in this context. Accordingly, a range of shifts has modified the structure of the international system, led so far by one great power: the U.S. The rise of China has threatened American aspirations, remarkably in areas where the American influence carries a historical hegemony. Although the political, economic, and military impact of the U.S. holds a historical weight in Brazil, it was not enough to contain the ascending influence of China, which became the principal economic partner of Brazil in 2009. In this respect, this dissertation aims to compare the impact of the smart power of China and the U.S. on Brazil and their respective trends, indicating a historical view of the Brazil-Washington and Brazil-Beijing relationships, by examining the phases of foreign policy. From 2010 to 2020 the relationship between these countries changed meaningfully due to domestic and external factors.
