Summer School of DeCAn. Day 6

Speaker: Allan Drazen, Professor (Department of Economics, University of Maryland, USA)
Title: Legislative Politics (part 2)

Abstract
Legislative decision-making is central to representative democracy. This course will consider issues in legislative politics, beginning with very simple of legislative bargaining and moving on to more complicated scenarios. A key question will be how legislative outcomes will be related to the underlying preferences of legislators under different legislative rules. We will also consider what legislators will be elected if voters take into account the subsequent operation of legislatures. We will look at specific issues of special interest politics in legislative settings, which will also be the subject of a seminar given by Professor Drazen.
