HSE Day for Athletic People

HSE Day for Athletic People

Learning a new sport is good for the brain and no worse than traditional intellectual games. And who needs a clear mind more than a student? That’s why a lot of sports clubs have been established at HSE, and they will be represented at the ‘Sports and Activities’ platform.

Do I have the skills for longboarding?

The HSE Extreme Sports Club has existed at HSE for over 15 years. These people can’t stand the idea of spending their student years only in the library. Club members go hiking, dive, ride horses, and regularly mount the HSE flag at the top of Elbrus.

Furthermore, the Extreme Zone will offer students the chance to try out unconventional sports with experienced trainers. Everyone interested will be able to test themselves to the limit in longboarding, roller skating, and many other sports.

Timetable:

2 – 5 pm Competitions: skateboarding, longboarding, scooter riding, biking and extreme roller skating

5 – 7 pm Free skating

2 – 7 pm Master classes: skateboarding, roller skating, simple tricks on scooters, mountain bikes and  balance boards

4 – 5.30 pm Team relays

5.30 – 6.30 pm Graffiti contest

2 – 7 pm Slacklining

Are there any Moscow parks without Yoga?

There are literally no Moscow parks without Yoga classes these days. And HSE Day is no exception. Yoga harmonizes body and mind, and this is also a great way to spend time and maintain your energy at the same time. The sports zone at HSE Day will offer a Hatha Yoga class, which is suitable both for beginners and advanced practitioners. If you are interested, please bring your own sports outfit. Mats will be provided on location. The instructors are Karolina Ponomareva, a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences School of Political Science, and Maria Evdotieva, an HSE student.

Timetable: 2 – 3 pm (Maria Evdotieva)

3 – 4.45 and 5 – 6.45 pm (Karolina Ponomareva)

What’s the difference between rump shaking and a hip roll?

The Casablanca Dance School has an interesting history. The project started as an experiment as part of the ‘Business Fight’ reality show presented by HSE students. The school today is an active project being realized by Anastasia Faizulenova, student of RUDN University. The ‘Higher School of Fitness’ platform will offer dance master classes by the Casablanca School. Sona Hovsepyan, long-time head of the HSE dance workshop, will also lead some classes.

Timetable:

2 – 3 pm Hip Hop. Sona Hovsepyan Dance Company

3 – 4 pm Samba and Jive. Sona Hovsepyan Dance Company

4 – 4.30 Reggaeton. Casablanca

4.30 – 5 pm. Bachata. Casablanca

How to become Miss HSE?

HSE has over 20 sports clubs. Students may choose an activity closest to their heart. If you are in Asian studies, you may go for in Wushu. If you wear topsiders, join a yacht club. If you dream of becoming Miss HSE, try out body shaping! HSE sports clubs will give some performances and students will be able to view various sports and join clubs on site. Furthermore, the programme includes exhibition performances in Wushu, rhythmic gymnastics, capoeira, hand-to-hand combat, cheerleading, and rugby. In addition, members of HSE sports clubs will show off their skills in volleyball, basketball, and ping-pong.

Time of performances: 3.30 pm, 4.30 pm.
