From Hate-Watching to GMOs: Highlights of the HSE Science Battles’ Third Semi-Finals
The fifth season of HSE Science Battles is currently underway, with the Sber office serving as a venue for another stage of the battle. Four speakers fought for a place in the finals by presenting their research in a ‘TED Talks’ format. Researchers of the Faculty of Computer Science presented their papers at the annual conference of Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS), which was held from 2 to 8 December 2018 in Montreal, Canada.

DeepBayes 2018: More Bayesian Methods in Deep Learning
The second Summer School on Deep Learning and Bayesian Methods was held in Moscow from August 27 to September 1, this year in English. During 6 days participants were studying and implementing Bayesian methods in neural networks, exchanging their experience and discussing research ideas.

International Council Recognizes HSE as Leader in Project 5-100
The Higher School of Economics was recognized as a leader among Project 5-100 universities following a recent session held by the Council on Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities among Global Research and Education Centers. The session took place in Yekaterinburg on October 27-28 and was chaired by Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.
