Biotechnology as a science lies at the intersection of cell and molecular biology, genetic engineering, biochemistry and bioorganic chemistry, bionanotechnology, bioengineering, and bioinformatics.

Graduates of this educational program can apply their skills in the field of medicine, namely in creation of new biologically active substances and drugs for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Also, a new field of biotechnology has recently become widespread - cloning - where specialists from HSE will be in demand.

In addition, biotechnologists will be able to work with living biological organisms, their systems and processes in order to create new varieties of products/plants/vitamins or improve the properties of existing species in plant and animal environments (resistant to adverse climatic conditions, pests and diseases).

Our graduates will be able to find employment in:

- leading research institutes in Russia and foreign research centers;

- commercial structures, aimed at implementation of biotechnological developments in production;

- Research & Development of technology companies and startups;

- Institutes of the Russian Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture;

- Manufacturing, pharmacological and other spheres which require specific knowledge and skills for solution of applied problems in biotechnology.

It is also possible to continue studies in Master's programs at the Higher School of Economics or other Russian and foreign universities after the Bachelor's degree.
