HSE and Kyung Hee University Double Degree Programme "Economics and Politics in Asia" and "Korea Corner" Grand Opening Ceremonies
On the 7th of November, 2018 the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the Higher School of Economics held the grand opening ceremony of HSE and Kyung Hee University Double Degree Programme "Economics and Politics in Asia" and the Professors´and Students´ Club "Korea Corner". The Vice President of Kyung Hee University (Seoul, Republic of Korea), Mr. Khang Gon, and the Dean of the College of International Studies of Kyung Hee University Mr. Moon Don arrived to Russia to attend this event.
The guests were welcomed by the Vice-rector of the Higher School of Economics Ivan V. Prostakov, the Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs Sergey А. Karaganov and the Academic Supervisor of the Programme “Economics and Politics in Asia” Denis A. Shcherbakov.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of honored guests. There were representatives of the Embassies of the Republic of Korea, Japan and Vietnam, among them were the Minister of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation Mr. Lee Jin-hyun; Head of the Education Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea Mr. Jeong Chang Yun; Mr. Keita Takahashi, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in the Russian Federation; Mr. Le Chi Loi, First Secretary in charge of Education Cooperation and Student`s Affairs of the Embassy of Vietnam.
The Director of the Moscow office of the Korea Foundation Mr. Moon Sung-ki, and the First Secretary of Japan Embassy Mr. Masanori Takaguchi were also the guests of the event.
Moreover, on behalf of companies for potential employment of future graduates the ceremony was attended by the Head of the Moscow office of Korail (Korean Railways) Mr. Cho HoKwon and the General Manager of Korean Air, Mr. Jo Manok.
The Vice-Rector of HSE Ivan V. Prostakov, the Vice-Rector of Kyung Hee University Mr. Khang, the Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs Sergey A. Karaganov and Minister of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation Mr. Lee gave welcome speeches on the opening ceremony.
The grand opening ceremony of the Korea Corner, created with the strong support of the Korea Foundation, was another significant event of the evening. It was inaugurated by cutting a ribbon by the Korea Corner first guests.
It is worthwhile to mention that first-year students took an active part in the event as volunteers. Active involvement of such open-minded, friendly and smart students provided significant assistance at the ceremonies and also established an atmosphere of the University holiday. Management of the Faculty and the Programme thanks all the students who participated in the organization and holding of this significant event.
