On October 10th, the HSE and University of London Parallel Degree Programme of International relations invited Marek Neumann of the Netherlands to participate in a roundtable concerning “The Challenges of Separatism to the European Union”.
On October 10th, the HSE and University of London Parallel Degree Programme of International relations invited Marek Neumann of the Netherlands to participate in a roundtable concerning “The Challenges of Separatism to the European Union”. Marek Neiman is an associate professor of the Department of International Relations and International Organizations at the University of Groningen, one of the eldest and most prestigious institutions in the Netherlands.
In a short explanation of the history of the European Union, Professor Marek explained where and why the source of the separatist movement arose.
Later, participants discussed issues such as the fate of Transnistria, the prospect of including the CIS countries in the EU as well as separatism in Catalan.
Students reported that various meetings with international personal, such as the roundtable with Marek Neumann are a valuable and useful part of the educational program.
