‘I Got the Kick I Needed to Finish My Paper and Feel Inspired’
From December 16–18, the HSE Academic Writing Centre held a ‘Writers’ Retreat’ aimed at giving HSE University researchers an opportunity to look at their texts from a different perspective. Every March and April, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) traditionally holds four student conferences. The conferences have much in common, but each of them still has their own history, traditions, and unique profile. While waiting for the student science marathon, we met with the organizers and asked them about the specific features of each conference and innovations for this year.
Text and Discourse, a New Track in the FLaIC programme
A new track called Text and Discourse is being added to the bachelor’s programme in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication. We talked to Anna Sebryuk, Associate Professor at School of Foreign languages, and discussed discourse, features of the new track, and opportunities for students.
Digitalization of Higher Education in the Context of the Pandemic
Within this project, a group of students is engaged in comparing different approaches and strategies for the transition from offline to online education that universities around the world are using. The project team are also developing useful materials for teachers and students. We talked to Arina Barasy, a 2nd-year student of the Master's programme in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication, who is the head of the project group. She told us about the objectives and achievements of the project.
Three Online English Courses for Success in Business

School of Foreign Languages Took Part in International Summer University 2020
In summer of 2020, students and teachers of the FLAIC programme took part in the International Summer University for the second time. The project gives students an opportunity to enrich their educational experience outside of the classroom by solving real intercultural problems through English.
