Course Syllabus

Abstract

The purpose of mastering the discipline "Excel Skills for business: basics" is to master the basic concepts of specialization Excel Skills for Business, learning the basics of Microsoft Excel. Ability to competently navigate the Excel user interface, perform basic calculations using formulas and functions, professionally format spreadsheets and create data visualizations using charts and graphs.

  • Gets the skill of working with formulas and functions - learns how to write them, use them to perform calculations
  • Uses font formatting, borders, alignment, number formatting, and Excel styles and themes
  • Extracts and modifies data with search and replace, uses conditional formatting to highlight specific data
  • Optimises a spreadsheet for printing by managing margins, orientation, headers and footers, and more.
  • Creates and edits charts in Excel.

Course Contents

  • Theme 1. Critical core Excel
    Overview the main chart types are pie, bar, and line charts Hands-on video: move and resize charts Hands-on video: changing chart style and Type Hands-on video: changing the element diagram Sharing Charts Practice Challenge Keyboard shortcuts, terminology and ninja tips 30 min
  • Theme 2. Performance of calculation.
    Familiarity with formulas and functions - learn how to write them, use them to perform calculations and deal with various cell references
  • Theme 3. Formatting
    Understanding the basics of working with highlighting key messages and making data presentable, working with font formatting, borders, alignment, number formatting, and understanding Excel style and themes
  • Theme 4. Work with data
    An overview on how to manage your spreadsheets - find data with filters and sorting, extract and modify data with search and replace, and use conditional formatting to highlight specific data.
  • Theme 5. Print
    Explanation on how to optimize a spreadsheet for printing by managing margins, orientation, headers and footers, and more
  • Theme 6. Graphics
    The main topic is working on creating and modifying charts in Excel
  • Debates
    Final control is carried out by taking part in the debates. Beforefinalgrading the students must be got acquainted to the results of their participation in the debates.

    Beforefinalgrading the students must be got acquainted to the results of their participation in the debates. If a student gets grade less than “4” (40), he doesn`t get an automatic failing grade, as this grade does not have a status of the blocking element and, due to the summing grade for the online course, this student gets his final result.
