Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course focuses the role of research in the process of making grounded decisions in management and in related fields. By the end of the course, the students must be able to formulate a research question; organise their work on any research (article, dissertation, thesis); choose an appropriate design, including data collection and processing methods, for research; choose appropriate sample defining techniques, data collection, and data analysing methods; tell quantitative research from qualitative research; tell data types from data measurements; evaluate the quality of research and of its conclusions.
Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives

  • This course aims to (1) introduce a set of research tools used for collecting and processing data, as well as to research design and the ways in which academic work can be presented;
  • (2) assist the students with the writing of their fourth-year thesis.
Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • to know the main stages of the research process:
  • — formulate a research question; — organise their work on any research (article, dissertation, thesis)
  • — design a research plan or programme; — formulate a research question, the aims, and the goals of the research;
  • — choose an appropriate design, including data collection and processing methods, for research; — choose appropriate sample defining techniques, data collection, and data analysing methods;
  • — tell quantitative research from qualitative research; — choose appropriate sample defining techniques, data collection, and data analysing methods;
  • — tell quantitative research from qualitative research;— choose appropriate sample defining techniques, data collection, and data analysing methods;
  • — evaluate the quality of research and of its conclusions.— present research in different formats (presentation, poster, report, etc.)
