Course Syllabus

Abstract

The relevance or the topic comes from the fact that in the framework of the existing global economy structure the main role in developing world economic relations is played by multinational companies (MNC) which execute global strategies, thus, integrating national, regional and global markets. New knowledge fields, technological advance, development of the financial area are considered to be the cause of growing competitiveness among the MNCs, and nowadays the very essence of such competitiveness is changing. National trade police of the countries remains one of the most crucial external factors that determine the success of the company on different national markets. Russia is still undergoing the process of dynamic integration into world economy processes, and consequently Russian managers need profound expertise in creating and maintaining competitiveness on both levels — the competitiveness of the country in general and the competitiveness of national companies. While studying this subject the students investigate modern forms and trends of world economic relations and get the basic knowledge of international trade regulation as well as key categories, notions and principles considering national and supranational governance of trade. Moreover, during the course the students discuss global competitiveness of the business and factors which provide and stimulate it. The skills of determining the most important competitive advantages and main barriers for developing competitive factors are obtained. One of the topics involves working out the most efficient global strategy for raising competitiveness level including the research of the best managerial practices. All the topics during the course involve case studies which allow to put theory into practice.
