Abstract

The idea of the research seminar "Craft of Comparisons" is to present the students the rich spectrum of comparative studies: from sociology and demography to economics, cultural studies and even linguistics. Students will get familiar with not only most important theoretical concepts but also learn the cutting-edge methodological approaches. The lecturers of the seminar are accomplished scientists with a solid research and teaching backgrounds. They will bring their own experience and examples to make the seminars richer and more practical.

To be able to understand the difference between comparative research strategies in different scientific disciplines
To be able to detect similar approaches of different disciplines in order to organise, conduct and analyse comparative research
To be able to choose a correct theoretical and methodological approach for a planned research
To be able to interpret the results and formulate the pivotal research findings

Tests
Short test assessing the knowledge and competences which students acquired after the seminars
Short tasks
Some teachers of the seminar prepared small tasks in order to make the forming of competences more effective
