The main objective of this article is analyzing the contemporary economic strategies of Russia and China in order to point out possible ways to establish favorable relations among each other in the energy resource trading field. To complete this objective, several problems were pointed out: the current structure of trade between Russia and China; the main trade figures of energy resource trade between the two countries and also the problem of establishing agreements in the countries’ joint venture projects. As a result of the analysis several points were made: I.The development of economic relations between Russia and China is possible mainly in the gas trade field, as China’s policy of diversification of its oil exporters leaves little space for the expansion of Russian oil export to China.II.The pivot of Russian policy to the East requires considerable measures taken to attract Chinese direct investment to the eastern part of Russia. The main recommendation of this article might be the establishment of “The multi-vector” economic policy of Russia in relation of the Central Asia countries as well as China. This policy would allow Russia to maintain its economic independence as well as to establish strategic security in its eastern regions by the policy of strategic partnership with China.
