The Features of Russian Financial Services Market Adaptation to the Conditions of WTO-Membership

The purpose of this paper is to determine the prospects of development of the Russian financial services market and steps towards its adaptation to the changing economic situation in Russia after the WTO accession. Based on the purpose, the following tasks were set for this paper:1)To study GATS, as the main document for the regulation of trade in the WTO.2)To study the current state of the Russian financial service market, the topical problems, faced by the banking sector, and solutions necessary to improve the competitiveness of Russian banks and insurance companies.3)To evaluate the consequences of the WTO - membership for the Russian financial services market 4)To overview the necessary steps to adapt successfully the banking and insurance sector to the conditions the WTO puts before its members.
