Trade Opportunities for Different Scenarios of the Conclusion of Agreements on Free Trade Zone Between Russia and the ASEAN Countries

The paper involves the main trends of development of theoretical and empirical approaches to studying of consequences of creation of FTAs. Russia has strongly poor experience of participation in FTA at the regional level, so she should take into account the expansion trade relations with ASEAN - one of the most advanced and promising associations in Asia-Pacific region. With help of trade indicators for analysis trade flows between Russia and ASEAN author notes that countries have a comparative advantage in the production of different products. So FTA between them is able to provide trade flows’ growth with increase of export’s diversification, share of finished products, including industrial production, high-tech industries. 4 scenarios about possible FTAs were described: between Russia and ASEAN, Russia and Vietnam, Russia and Singapore, Russia and Indonesia. Using evaluation of the price elasticity of demand were formulated conclusions on the positive and negative effects on trade between countries.
