Chinese foreign policy in Southeast Asia has always been characterized as interactionbetween inner factors and foreign powers. It evolved from the tributary system to the equalrelationship with the countries of Southeast Asia region. The perception of Chineseforeign policy is reflected in the works of Russian, Western and Chinese scientists. Theproject aims to analyze China’s foreign policy in Southeast Asia in the Yuan, the Mingand the Qing dynasties. China perceived the whole world through the prism of itssuperiority, as the Middle Kingdom. China and South-East Asia relations were mostlyconducted in accordance with a very specific tributary system suggested by China.Nevertheless, this model was accepted by the countries of South-East Asia. Firstly, thepaper provides the detailed review of the changes in Chinese foreign policy. Secondly, itfocuses on strategic goals of Chinese foreign policy. Thirdly, the project states historicalsituation and policy accomplishments in the region.
