The effectiveness of EU policy towards the Arab Spring

The Arab Spring affected the most vital interests of the European Union, therefore the EU was expected to seize the opportunity and take the lead in the process of democratization in the Arab countries. Eventually, the EU managed to make its values and interests meet, creating a more consistent policy. Nevertheless, inherent institutional features of the EU and the destabilising character of the international system stultified the EU's efforts.
