The object of our study is the politics of the Republic of Kazakhstan with regards to the Eurasian Economic Union. Specifically, the subject focuses on the political and economic preconditions of Kazakhstan's participation in the Eurasian integration. This dissertation is aimed at studying the interests of Kazakhstan in the Eurasian Economic Union. In connection with the objectives set by the author, the following tasks will be studied:a) To undertake a comprehensive analysis of the integration processes in the post-Soviet area.b) To identify the economic factors contributing to the integration course of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the integration project Custom Union –Eurasian Economic Union.c) To analyse the political interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Custom Union –Eurasian Economic Union and whether they represent a strategic nature for Kazakhstan.d) To analyse the economic objectives and goals of Kazakhstan’s other partners in the integration group: Belarus and Russia. The hypothesis of the research is that despite Kazakhstan’s support of the integration processes in the post-Soviet sphere, its interest lie solely in the economic integration field, for example, maximizing the benefits to accelerate the modernization of Kazakhstan's economy. Consequently, Kazakhstan will not go into the political form of integration. Since political integration requires coordinated foreign and defence policies, this contradicts the Foreign Policy Concept of the Republic of Kazakhstan which declares a multi-vector foreign policy.
