<p>This paper is devoted to study of the changes in functioning of the US banking system and description of these changes on model level. We get the plausible and relatively simple model that describes the behavior of the banking system. Besides we discover switches in the functioning regimes, connected with the form of the complementary slackness condition. Finally, we studied the behavior and the most crucial changes of the US financial system from the 1970s to the 2010s, as the banking system could not be considered separately.</p>
