"Migrating Stories" of Culture in the Structure of Political Communication

<p>An introduced research is a first step of examination the phenomenon of so called &ldquo;migrating stories&rdquo; in modern political communicational practices. The aim of the research is to analyse the consistent patterns of the usage and technological possibilities of &ldquo;migrating story&rdquo; in modern Russian and international political communication. To infer these patterns there was conducted a research in review the genesis of the theory of &ldquo;migrating story&rdquo;, analysis of the place of this tool in a complex of collective unconscious of Jung, investigation of the role of the &ldquo;migrating story&rdquo; in the conception of Homo Narrans. Theoretical part of the research is based on four blocks of works: literary studies (Veselovsky, Jirmunsky, Propp), psychology, especially the conception of collective unconscious and mass psychology (Jung, Campbell, Freud, Le Bon), political mythologies (Shomova, Kara-Murza), and communication studies with conception of Homo Narrans (Fisher, Bennett). Empirical basis of the research contains the materials about the stories with the participation of political leaders for the last 4 years.</p><p>Results of the research show that politicians use &ldquo;migrating stories&rdquo; widely, but this usage is not systematic and it does not include the patterns of this tool. These patterns were investigated and analysed to make the list of recommendations for those who use &ldquo;migrating stories&rdquo; during the communication process. Some of them raise the effect from the usage of &ldquo;migrating stories&rdquo;, the other make this effect neutral. The received results can be used by the researchers who investigate the nuances of story-telling in political communication, by the politicians and PR specialists to make their stories more reliable and sophisticated, and by those who find the ways to counterstand the political manipulation and propaganda.</p>
