The purpose of research - to identify key issues for the use of data visualization sites Russian news agencies.

Hypothesis of our study was the assumption that, despite the fairly active implementation of information visualization on the sites of news agencies in Russia, its capabilities are used inefficiently, with the result that does not facilitate, but rather complicates the perception of information due to clutter the visual elements.

In the course of work were used both theoretical and empirical research methods. The theoretical part of the analysis of the research literature , identified the main concepts , the comparative analysis of different approaches to data visualization . In the empirical part of the work carried out visual analysis infographic sites, based on the categories identified in the theoretical analysis. As an additional method of research used the method of typology, as well as a method of questioning that was used to study the perception of users.

In accordance with the tasks, we have learned the basic approaches to the concepts of Big Data and Data Visualization ; identified the most common form of information resources for data visualization and their functions ; formulated the concept of infographics, describe its features and functions as a means of data visualization ; analyzed data visualization forms in websites Russian news agencies - ITAR-TASS, RIA Novosti, RBC ; developed a typology of data visualization from which conducted a study of perception visualization users; formulated the basic problem of data visualization.

We have identified the types of visualization, visualization as mono- (pseudo-visualization) - consists of two elements, which is often the main text; unidirectional visualization - consists of several elements , where different elements are used for the development of the same theme , for its detail and going deeper ; blurred visualization - various elements serve to render completely different topics in one infographics ; and interactive visualization. User surveys was made on the basis of this typology in order to determine how effective a particular type of visualization in the perception of users , that is, to understand how each example is clear, easy to use, informative, emotional and aesthetic

As a result, extended at the beginning of the study hypothesis was confirmed partially. On the one hand, we have identified with the help of case studies and survey of users that visualization really used effectively. However, on the other hand due not only inefficiency jumble visual perception of elements and complexity, as in the case of unidirectional imaging, but, on the contrary, in the warp direction to simplify the structure, convenience and ease of use at the expense of design and information visualization
