Social values and television formats: the problem of dependence and impact

<p>This graduation paper is devoted to the study of television formats and social values ​ that underlie them.</p><p>The purpose of research is to reveal dependence between social values ​​underlying the television formats and the values ​​of&nbsp; television&nbsp; audience&nbsp; in age groups 18-29, 30-49, 50+.</p><p>The object of research is television formats in the context of the prevailing social values. The subject of the research is social values ​​that underlie different television formats.</p><p>For the research there was developed a hypothesis that social values ​​are dependent on the values ​​contained in the television formats.</p><p>During the process of work the definition of&nbsp; the format of television program&quot; was given, the concept of &quot;social values​​&quot; was defined, a set of social values ​​for age groups 18-29 , 30-49 , 50 + was identified. Also formats scored the highest popularity among the age groups 18-29, 30-49, 50+ and social values ​​contained in them were analyzed, a comparison of values ​​that underlie these formats and social values ​​shared by age groups was made.</p><p>&nbsp;As a result of the research the hypothesis was proved, social values ​​shared by a group and thus underlying scored the most popular television formats were found for each age group. For the audience age group of 18-39 years there is an intersection between values of the group and values in the formats scored the highest rating. These values are relations, success, the value of success and independence. The main value which is dependent to the values ​​underlying the television formats for the age group 30-49 years was the value of the family. Also in the ranks of the values the crossing the ideas of stability and independence ​​was found. For the age group 50 + the presence of values ​​such as justice, family, stability, commitment to safety, the value of the team was found.</p>
