Directions, Mechanisms and Effectiveness of Public Anti-Alcohol Policy

<p>The problem of alcohol abuse has a national scale.</p><p>Today alcohol problem is very acute in Europe and Russia</p><p>Alcohol abuse causes significant damage to many public areas, but the first to the population health. This habit contributes significantly to morbidity, mortality and crime.<br />Researchers in many countries are studying various aspects of the problem: the causes of alcohol abuse, its consequences and possible solutions.</p><p>This work is devoted to analysis of trends, mechanisms and effectiveness of state alcohol policy.<br />It includes a description of the current alcohol situation in Russia and Europe, an analysis of state alcohol policies of European countries and Russia, and recommendations for improvement the anti-alcohol legislation in the Russian Federation and promotion of healthy lifestyles.<br />Alcohol consumption of Europeans and Russians greatly exceeds the recommended standard. In addition, many countries have dangerous type of alcohol drinking - drinking large amount of hard liquor at a time.</p><p>As for state alcohol policy, today public authorities use different methods to fight alcohol abuse. Consumption of alcohol is a very complex phenomenon, and therefore requires a thorough and comprehensive approach to the development of alcohol policies.</p><p>There are opportunities to improve the anti-alcohol legislation in Russia. In the first place, it is necessary to reduce the availability of alcohol and impose more stringent penalties for violation of the laws relating to the sale of alcohol. And last but not least - to fix at the legislative level awareness-raising campaigns. Setting clear goals and objectives of alcohol policy, legislative alcohol restrictions and sanctions for their violation, public alcohol education and the active promotion of a healthy lifestyle should be reflected in the plans of public authorities to improve health and enhance quality of life.</p>
