<p>The automotive industry continues to be the leading sector of the German manufacturing industry and the German economy as a whole. Thanks to the success of the automotive companies, Germany could overcome the crisis faster than many other EU countries. Orders from abroad have played the crucial role in it. Under conditions of continuing stagnation of the &quot;home&quot; European markets, including automotive, the analysis of re-orientation of German exporting industries seems to be relevant.</p><p>In this paper the internationalization strategies are considered, both from a theoretical point of view and with regard to the analyzed areas of expansion of German automotive companies. In addition, an analysis of the role and place of the automotive industry in the German economy and on the global market is carried out. Finally, the prospects for expanding the presence of the German automotive companies in the markets of the BRICS countries are evaluated.</p>
