Disclosure for Assets Impairment: a Test for IFRS Compliance for Metals and Mining Companies in the Russian Federation

<p>The paper consists of 41 pages, which contain 6 tables and 2 graphs. There were 20 sources of information used for the research.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">The object of the study is assets in metals and mining companies of Russia.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">The subject of the paper is disclosure analysis for assets impairment in IFRS.</p><p>The main objective of the research is studying on the subject of how to take into account the impairment of assets in accordance with IFRS for the extractive industry.</p><p>The paper includes: introduction, three chapters, conclusion, bibliography and 4 applications .</p><p>The introduction outlines the key goals and objectives of the work, explained the relevance of the work. There is also considered the theoretical elaboration of the problem and its scientific novelty, nominated by four hypotheses.</p><p>Analysis of the steel industry of the Russian Federation, held in the first chapter, is set for the significance of the data on the financial statements of steel companies to the economy.</p><p>The second part gives an understanding of the practice in the field of asset valuation in resource companies, considered both Russian and international experience of IFRS.</p><p>The final chapter includes the analysis of disclosure of assets impairment under IFRS. There was proposed disclosure index and the method of content analysis, using the sample of Russian companies in exploration and mining industry. There were examined pros and cons of the IFRS compliance and information disclosure index.</p><p>In conclusion, there were presented the main findings of the study, as well as rejected or not rejected hypothesis.</p>
